PUBLIC INFORMATION

AIA Newark and Suburban Architects is a section of the American Institute of Architects, the largest and most influential professional association for architects, interns and those directly involved in the practice of architecture. For over 100 years, AIA Newark and Suburban Architects has striven to meet the needs and interests of its members and the public by developing public awareness of the value of architecture and the importance of good design.

AIA NEWARK AND SUBURBAN + Emerging Professionals

AIA Newark and Suburban Architects is the forum through which its members define issues to be addressed. Today's new technologies and markets make membership in AIA Newark and Suburban more important than ever to interns and architects in private practice, education, government or in a corporation environment. The reward for advancing the profession, improving architectural practice, and assisting all architects with their professional growth is shared by all members. AIA Newark and Suburban Architects also provide emerging professionals, Assoc. AIA and AIA members with guidance and resources to all facets of our continually developing field.

REPRESENTING THE PROFESSION TO THE PUBLIC

Success as a architect depends upon an informed public that values architectural services. AIA Newark and Suburban Architects provides a myriad of information to both the general public and potential clients as well as assisting architectural firms in promoting themselves to the public. Profiles of AIA Newark and Suburban member firms, information on how to select architects, services architectural firms provide, and how to prepare to become an architect, are the most requested information.

The AIA aims to nurture emerging professionals and influence a preferred future for the internship process and architecture education.

To provide a seamless transition from education to practice, the AIA works with emerging professionals to develop, coordinate, disseminate and support events and activities for Associate AIA members, Young Architects, and the network of IDP Coordinators.

The National Associates Committee (NAC) is dedicated to representing and advocating for Associates in the national, regional, state, and local components of the AIA.

The Young Architects Forum (YAF) is organized to address issues of particular importance to recently licensed architects (licensed 10 years or fewer).

REGISTRATION

Why do I need to register?
To ensure fairness, the competition jury will examine the submitted proposals anonymously. To make this anonymity possible, competitors will receive a unique confirmation ID number upon completion of the registration process. Registration also helps the AIA Newark and Suburban manage the juried competition more efficiently.

What does the registration fee cover?
In previous competitions, entrants were required to print, mount and ship their entries to our office; for this competition, entrants will submit all files digitally. The two boards per entrant of all finalists will be printed, mounted by AIA Newark and Suburban to be used for the jury and for future public exhibition. Printing the boards at the same time guarantees uniformity and quality while preventing damage caused by shipping. This process eliminates all printing and shipping time and expenses for the registrant. The higher registration fee helps cover this cost. The cost also includes two entry tickets to the Awards Ceremony for all entrants.

Can competitors submit more than one entry to the competition?
Only one entry is permitted per receipt ID number. Competitors who wish to submit more than one entry must register for each submission.

Can two or more people enter the competition? Am I limited to the number of people in the group? How does registration fee apply to a group?
